Dom wakacyjny Lgota ★★★
The owner contacted us to confirm that we were able to find the property and on arrival we soon met Junior's Dad, who explained the basics such as keys and electricity before we set about enjoying a week of countryside freedom. Of course, this is not a resort centre (although there are a couple of theme parks relatively close), but it is a super little house on the edge of a village and you have it all to yourself. There are no shopping centres, cinemas, bars or whatnot in Lgota and it's a good long walk to buy groceries, but this is a real bit of Poland and exactly what we want from our holidays. Surrounded by standing crops, with a new house being built over the road (which caused us no disturbance at all), you get a rather nice 3 bed roomed house with an orchard, loads of grassed space (with a volleyball area) and access to a carp fishing lake - literally at the bottom of the garden. The BBQ area includes a covered 'lean-to' with not only tables and seating, but a couple of bench swings. Depending on your preference, this is a place where you can really relax, or go rambling, cycling or touring to your heart's content. It was a base for us to go out every day and even though it is close enough to drive into Krakow, we missed it this time because we were too busy! The house is clean and comfortable, with lovely owners, so we look forward to going back. If there is a drawback, it's that if you rely on your mobile phone and social media, our British 'phone couldn't get a signal and as we didn't take a computer, we couldn't benefit from the WI-fi connection. The Malopolska and Silesia areas have so much to offer, that we've been returning to the region year after year for a long time now. So if you enjoy being "off the beaten track" we think this is a great place to be based. It's sited in the Beskidy for all the outdoor stuff, but Auschwitz, the Wieliczka salt mines, Zywiec castle and brewery, Wadowice, Bielsko-Biala and Czeszyn are all easy trips. Zakopane in the High Tatras, a couple of National Parks and Krakow are among the other options for day trippers. The owners work hard to ensure that your stay is comfortable, so we wish them every success and hope to return soon. Mick & Yve Carson
